Technology

Vista Broadband is fixed wireless broadband at its best. Our many broadcast locations are backhauled with licensed frequency OC-3 and DS-3 radios from a strategic and redundant design of collocation facillities. We then employ 5 Gigahertz point-to-multipoint radios for last-hop connectivity to the customer premises. The radio at the customer location acts as the CPE with all functionality built into the unit on the roof. The customer is then provided an ethernet connection into their LAN. Connections are modular and easily scaled to meet a customer's growing needs with a simple phone call to Vista. All Vista connections are backed by award-winning, local and live support dedicated to reliability and exceeding customers expectations.

Security

Security is a key concern when it comes to a wireless Internet connection. Vista Broadband's Network employs more encryption and levels of security than even a T1. Vista does not use 802.11/Wi-Fi equipment (which has well known security issues). Every customer has an individually provisioned point-to-point circuit that is only capable of communications between the client and Vista's network. No broadcast technology is used (i.e., Wi-Fi) that would allow unauthorized snooping or eavesdropping. To further enhance security, Vista employs directional antennas throughout its network to ensure that wireless signals are only received at the locations where they are intended to eliminate interception. Finally, the wireless traffic itself is encrypted over the air via proprietary encryption schemes employed directly in the radios, and adaptively changed during transmissions. Because of these advanced security features, Vista's wireless segment is actually more secure than a standard T1, which has no encryption. It is still important to recognize that Internet access over any technology (T1, DSL, Cable, and fixed wireless) creates an open doorway to your network. A firewall is recommended to prevent unauthorized access into your network from the Internet.

Comparison

A Vista Broadband Internet connection far exceeds a traditional Internet connection as it bypasses the telco in it's last hop to customers. Free from the the dependance on a middleman's copper, Vista can offer more bandwidth per dollar, more security, and more quality than a traditional connection.
